Aftercare
Recovery
It's possible that your body temperature will rise after the session, staying elevated for 1–3 days. If this happens, you can take any antipyretic medication.
You'll also need to avoid swimming, saunas, the gym, or any sports for about 2–3 weeks while your tattoo heals.
Classic Method — Absorbent Pads
After the session, I take care of the first aftercare step and cover your tattoo with a pad — you'll need to change it once you get home.
You'll need to clean and moisturize your tattoo 3 times a day. Here's how:
- Remove the old bandage. It may have a trace of your tattoo with colored lymph and ichor on it — this is completely normal.
- Wash the tattoo with warm water and soap.
- Pat away the excess water with a towel.
- Apply a cream or ointment containing dexpanthenol. Don't let your skin get too dry — the tattoo needs to stay well moisturized.
Use a bandage for the first 1–3 days whenever you go outside or go to sleep. At home, you don't need one, but keep the tattoo moisturized.
Important: your bandage must let air through — never use plastic wrap on your tattoo.
From day 2–4 onward, you can stop using bandages, but keep washing the tattoo and applying cream or ointment. Moisturize it whenever it feels dry to the touch, and continue until the tattoo stops peeling.
Second Skin Method
I only use this method for small tattoos. After the session, I disinfect the tattoo and apply a special transparent film.
Feel free to shower, just avoid steaming the skin.
For the first few days, you may see fluid forming under the film — this is lymph, and it will dry up within a couple of days. Don't worry, just let it be.
Keep the film intact and don't cover it — your skin needs to breathe.
Remove the film on day 3 or 4 after the session. Starting from an edge, peel it off slowly and carefully. Once removed, wash the tattoo with liquid soap — no washcloth, and be gentle, without rubbing.
Your tattoo may peel for a few days afterward — just apply a moisturizer containing dexpanthenol.
Don't peel off the crust or scratch your tattoo. It's almost healed — be patient, and the crust will fall off naturally.
Once your tattoo is fully healed, always apply sunscreen to it to keep the pigment vibrant.
If you'd like, we can schedule a touch-up after 4–6 weeks. Touch-ups within 6 months of healing are free; after 6 months, a fee applies.
